Happy Thursday y’all!! I am excited about this post because it’s a little something out of the norm from my usual posts around here, but one of my 2016 goals for G&G is to diversify my content, so here goes nothing! Today’s post is a travel diary! Tyler & I love to travel, and explore new places, so I thought I would start sharing posts from my travel experiences with y’all. Where we ate, what we did, where to stay, etc. First up, Atlanta!
When I first started G&G I was living in Athens, GA, so I would frequent ATL to see girlfriends & do some shopping. I haven’t been in a few years, and I was in desperate need to find accessories & outfits for some wedding festivities! The shopping in Lexington doesn’t even compare, so a road trip was the only solution! My momma and I decided to take a little mother daughter trip down to Atlanta for some retail therapy.
Where we stayed: W Atlanta- Buckhead. Ever since the first (then) Southern Blog Society brunch, I have loved the W in Buckhead. It has such fun decor, smells amazing and is walking distance to Lenox Mall. That’s what I am talking about, anytime I can be in walking distance to the mall I’ll take it 😉
Where we ate: We got into Atlanta around lunch time and had two things on our agenda: lunch & shopping. We wanted to maximize our time, so we decided to grab a bit to eat at True Food Kitchen in Lenox Mall. I’ll be honest, I was a little apprehensive, but it was amazing! It might have been my favorite meal I had on our trip. I would highlyyyyy recommend the mushroom & asparagus pizza & edamame dumplings. They were both SO good.
Next up, dinner at JCT Kitchen & Bar with some long lost girlfriends! They both live in ATL, and recommended the southern joint and it was delicious. One reason I miss living further south (yes, I consider KY the south 🙂 ), is because you can get a veggie plate with good southern vegetables almost anywhere you go. The shrimp and grits were also spot on.
Lastly, Bartaco. I’ve heard so much about this Mexican joint, and I’m a sucker for Mexican food so I had to give it a go. I’ll be honest, the atmosphere and cocktails were better than the food, but I’ll take it.
We didn’t eat there this go around, but normally when I stay at the W Buckhead I grab some breakfast at Highland Bakery. It’s just a hop, skip & a jump from the hotel and it so good.
What we did: There are SO many things to do in Atlanta, but for this specific trip my mom and I just wanted to relax and shop. We’re easy to please, what can I say 😉 We started one of our days off with a blow out at Dry Bar. My mom had never been before, and she loved it! Her blow out and style lasted all day, while mine fell flat after 30 minutes. Haha. But we had fun none the less!
Where we shopped: Again, there are so many places to shop in Atlanta, but we opted for the Buckhead malls and shops! Lenox, Phipps & Shops Around Lenox, repeat. Between the three they have just about any store you could want to shop, and they’re all so close together.
I scored my rehearsal dinner dress, wedding shoes, bridal luncheon dress, wedding earrings and two more shower dresses on our trip so needless to say, it was a success!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this post! Love it? Hate it? Let me know!
xoxo!
