Winter comes with colder temps & dryer air–wreaking havoc on my skin! I’m teaming up with Nordstrom to share my winter beauty must haves for those winter beauty woes.
Happy Thursday y’all! I am so excited to share today’s post with y’all because it’s been a minute since we’ve chatted beauty around here. When the seasons change, most often, your beauty needs & skin changes with it. Winter seems to be the most challenging for me when it comes to my skin & makeup needs, but I’ve finally found ways to overcome all of those winter induced beauty troubles. So I’ve teamed up with Nordstrom today to share the products that are solving all of my winter beauty woes!
Dry Skin:
Even though I have oily skin, my skin gets dry due to the cold weather. Especially since I maintain using my retinol cream year round. Who would have thought you could be dry AND oily, it’s the weirdest thing y’all. I hate hate hate the feeling of dry skin, so I was on the hunt for products that helped keep the dry skin at bay. First skin saving product, this Dermalogica Daily Exfoliant! This will make your skin feel so incredibly soft, and get rid of that dry skin without drying it out further. It’s gentle enough to use daily, however, I don’t use everyday, just as I feel needed. Next up, I needed a moisturizer that was light enough to wear under my makeup but still gave me that moisturized feel on the dryest of winter days. This Clinique Moisture Surge has been a lifesaver & a game changer in my skin care routine! Plus I have pretty acne prone, sensitive skin, and it hasn’t caused a break out either!
In addition to taking care of the dry skin on my face during the winter months, I also want to keep the rest of my skin moisturized! Three tips: exfoliate at least a few times a week, use a shower oil & moisturize every day. These three steps have helped keep my skin looking and feeling moisturized this time of year. I’ve also heard great things about using a skin brush, but I can’t vouch for the results of using one (after reading it’s description, I’m adding it to my cart 😉). This set looks like such a great buy & has all the body products I’m looking for in it!
Long Lasting Makeup:
This is really a beauty problem I want solved all year long, as I don’t want to have to touch up my makeup much throughout the day. What I’m really looking for– a natural (natural is all relative y’all) makeup look that keeps my oils at bay, yet doesn’t look cakey or too matte. Yes, I’m picky! After years of trying out so many different foundations & powders, I finally have my perfect formula & I am SO excited!
This Dior Forever Foundation is amazing. Pricey, yes. Worth it for me, absolutely! This finish is everything I want & more. It lasts so long & keeps my oils from peeking through throughout the day. Of course I top it with my holy grail powder, that I mention in almost every beauty post around here because it’s that good! This definitely extends the longevity of my foundation and creates a smooth base for the rest of my products– blush, bronzer & highlight! Lastly, I top everything with this setting spray & you’ve got a makeup combo that will last you all. day. long.
I can’t forget these matte lipstains & this perfume. This lipstain is so good, it’s comfortable on the lips & last for hours. And this perfume is the only one in my collection that lasts on my skin all day.
Products that take you from natural to night:
While most of the winter months call for cozy nights snuggled up on the couch, the holidays call for some nights out. Which is why I was on the hunt for products that could work for day & night. All of the long lasting products mentioned above definitely work for a day at the office or a night out– this foundation, this blush, this bronzer, this powder & this setting spray.
First up, highlight! Highlight is one of my favorite beauty products to buy, but it is a little difficult to find one you can wear for day & night. This option & this option are two of my favorites that leave you with a subtle look for daytime and one you can build up for a night out.
Contouring is another beauty trend that you can work day to night, but finding a product that will give you a subtle look for daytime can be tricky. This palette is my solution for day to night contour– and as a bonus, you get a super subtle highlight shade that is perfect for everyday wear. This cream product is also a great option you can wear day & night. Looking for a more versatile contour palette? This option has 6 shades, and while I can’t personally vouch for this palette, it gets great reviews!
Lastly, let’s chat eyeshadow shall we?! I’ve always been a beauty product junkie, and back in the day I would buy just about every new eyeshadow palette just to have it. Only to barely use any of the colors. I’ve finally learned my lesson, and now really look for palettes that I can get the most use out of. AKA, ones I can use to create daytime & nighttime looks. I do have several that I love, but this palette is probably my favorite for this reason. I also can travel with this one palette, and have every shade I need to create so many different looks!
And that’s a wrap y’all! I hope these tips & product suggestions were helpful for you! I would love to know what solutions you have to any beauty troubles you’re working with!
