I’m currently curling up at home avoiding the single digit temps outside, so I thought it was the perfect time to share my Healdsburg Travel Guide.
Hey y’all! I’m writing this cozied up in all of the layers. It’s the coldest day we’ve had all winter & it has me desperately wanting to be back in Healdsburg! You might have seen on Instagram, but a few weekends ago I ventured to the west coast with Lola & Ivy for a fun filled weekend of wine tasting and girl time. Plot twist: I had only met one (very briefly) of the 13 other girls going. I knew this was going to put me out of my comfort zone, but I was excited nonetheless. From the minute the trip started, everyone was so sweet, kind & welcoming. I’ve been working with Lola & Ivy since last May, so it was so nice to put faces to the names I work with so closely on a daily basis. To say it was an amazing weekend would be an understatement! It was a good for the soul kind of weekend.
Where is Healdsburg exactly? I had that exact thought when I first heard about this trip, but Healdsburg is the most charming little town in Sonoma County. I loved it so much y’all! I’ve been dying to go back to wine country since our trip in 2017, and if & when I go back again I will definitely be staying in Healdsburg.
Lynlee & I spent the first night in San Francisco (more of that to come!), and headed to Healdsburg Thursday morning.
Where to Stay in Healdsburg: Hotel Trio
I can’t say enough good things about Hotel Trio y’all. Upon check in I was already in love with the property. How gorgeous is that check in area?! I love, love, love the mix of marble with the greenery. Marking this photo for home inspo! Did I mention the signature scent of the property was beyond? I’m just over here wondering how I can make our house smell like it.. The hotel paid such attention to detail, and it showed throughout the property.
On to the accommodations.. Our room was so spacious, and complete with a full sized fridge to store all of your wine! That alone sold me. The beds were also sooo comfortable too. There is nothing worse than uncomfortable beds & bedding when on a trip, but I slept like a baby y’all. In addition to the rooms, the gym area was great, it had everything you would need to get a good workout in, complimentary breakfast is provided with your stay & they also have a great pool on the property. Sadly it wasn’t warm enough to enjoy the pool, but it makes me want to book a trip during a warmer month just so we can spend a day by the pool!
The location is also great. While the town is smaller, the wineries can be spread out. The location of the hotel allowed us to get to several wineries in no time. They also offer a complimentary shuttle to take you into town.
Winery Roundup:
- Matrix Winery: This was our first tasting stop of the trip, and it was a great place to kick off our wine tasting trip! Sadly it was raining that day, but the outside area is adorable. The wines are so good, and I loved the cheese plates they prepared for us.
- MacRostie Winery: This was my favorite tasting experience of the trip. It has been named ‘Best Winery in Sonoma’ and ‘Best Tasting Room in Napa and Sonoma’ for a reason. The tasting room is stunning, the wine is delicious & the staff is incredibly kind. I can’t say enough good things about MacRostie. If you’re in the Healdsburg area is it a MUST visit.
- J Winery: Give me all of the bubbles! This experience was more formal than all of our other tasting experiences. The bubbles were delicious, and I love the thought that went into the cheese & wine pairings they had for us.
- Banshee: This tasting room is just adorable y’all! A few of us went before dinner, and it was a great way to start our evening. Their Sauvignon Blanc was my favorite of the tasting!
- Mazzacco: I loved our experience here! The staff was great, and the property is gorgeous. It was another low key experience, which I love. It was a slow day for the winery, so our waiter went out of his way to take us on a tour of the property. It is another winery that has a great outdoor space too!
Where to Eat:
- Bavas Bar de Tapas: I loveeee a good tapas restaurant y’all. Bravas was a great place to grab dinner & drinks. The atmosphere was so good too! Make sure you order the ham & cheese croquetas, you’ll thank me later.
- Campo Fina: This might be my favorite meal of the trip. It was AMAZING! We sat outside (with heaters), and the atmosphere was just as good as the food. They had great drinks too. If and when I go back to Healdsburg I will definitely be back to Campo Fina. If you get the chance to go, order the Tomasso Sugo’s Calabrese & Vegetable & Farro Salad.
- Dry Creek General Store: This general store takes you back in time. It was a great place to grab lunch & refuel in between tastings!
- Costeaux: We grabbed breakfast here one morning & it was great. It’s a cute little french bakery, and the perfect way to start a day.
