95 degrees in September has me dying for fall temps & light layers. I normally always get ahead of myself & find myself just buying random fall pieces, but this year I am really going to hone in on a select group of pieces, basics (ps. basics don’t have to be boring) if you will, to build my wardrobe around. So today I am sharing 20 basics that you can build all your fall outfits around!
- Leopard Blazer: Do yourself a favor & get you some leopard & a blazer this season. Even better if it’s a leopard blazer. I love this sweater take on the trend. This sweater blazer also comes in 5 neutral colors if leopard isn’t your thing. What to wear with this leopard blazer: jeans & a tee with loafers. With this faux leather skirt & a tank. Or over a long sleeve tee with faux leather leggings.
- Suede Crossbody: Y’all know I think blush is a neutral, and this suede crossbody is so good! It’s the perfect casual bag that is so chic.
- Oversized Sweater: Everyone needs a good oversized sweater in their life come fall. This one is one of my favs. I love the cable knit detail and it comes in 15 colors. What to wear with an oversized sweater: jeans & a tee with loafers, leather leggings & sneakers or a satin skirt & booties!
- Stripe Cardigan: Ah I love this cardigan so much! I actually already scooped it up for fall. The colors are amazing & make it such a versatile pieces. - Faux Leather Skirt: This is always a staple in my closet during the cooler months. This one is such a great bargain buy, right under $50! How to wear a faux leather skirt: dress it down with a graphic tee or thermal, sneakers & a moto jacket, dress it up with a satin tank & blazer.
- Satin Midi Skirt: Satin midi skirts are everywhereeee right now, and I have yet to add one to my closet, but this one might make me pull the trigger. It comes in 3 colors. I love adding textures to my outfits, and this is such a great way to add some amazing texture to your outfit. How to style a midi skirt: belt an oversized sweater over the skirt, pair with a moto jacket, tee & sneakers to dress it down or opt for a silk tank in a similar color for a monochromatic look.
- Graphic Tee: LOVE a good graphic tee– always have, always will! I think they add a little bit of edge to an outfit in a fun casual way. How to style a graphic tee for fall: pair it under a cardigan or moto jacket with jeans & booties. Or pair it with a chic skirt & sneakers.
- Booties: I feel like booties need no explanation. A neutral pair of booties are a fall must have. They go with nearly everything!
- Neutral Tote: I am one that gravitates towards prints & colors, so I have to remind myself that neutral pieces are so much more versatile. This cognac tote would be perfect for fall, and work for everything from work to travel. You can carry with the top handle, shoulder strap or as a backpack.
- Layered Necklace Set: Y’all know I love laying my jewels, and this set is so affordable and takes the work out of laying necklaces.
- Leopard Sneakers: A chic pair of sneakers is a staple in my closet regardless of season, and fall is no different. Do yourself a favor and pick up a great pair of sneakers. How to style sneakers for fall: they go with EVERYTHING y’all, trust me! Skirts, dresses, jeans, etc.
- Jeans: Jeans are also a no brainer come fall. While I am sure you have your favorite jeans in your closet already, sometimes it’s fun to add a more trendy pair to your closet each season. I love this high waisted, straight leg pair. They’re under $100 too!
- Satin Tank: I always reach for my satin tanks. They’re great pieces to have in your closet, and add a little elevated touch to any outfit. How to style a satin tank for fall: pair it under a chunky sweater, a moto jacket, etc.
- Faux Leather Leggings: I cannot stress this enough. These are the BEST faux leather leggings under $100. I just purchased my 3rd pair because I wear them so much during the colder months. - TShirt Dress: I love adding an easy tshirt dress to my wardrobe during the fall months. It is an easy way to look pulled together & casual. How to style a tshirt dress for fall: with a moto jacket & booties, dressed down with a ballcap & sneakers or meet in the middle with a belt & loafers.
- Thermal: I love these thermals from Aerie. They’re so great to just throw on with jeans & go! They elevate the basic long sleeve tee just enough.
- Belt: A no brainer accessory that works great with dresses, skirts, jeans, etc.
- Statement Earrings: Y’all know I love my statement earrings, so I couldn’t resist adding these heart earrings into this roundup of basics. For me, embellished heart earrings are a basic.. lol. - Loafers: How chic are these loafers?! The color of them are so gorgeous. I have this shoe in a silver glitter & it is so comfortable. I thought I would go the more neutral, subtle route with this nude pair. How to style loafers for fall: with EVERYTHING.
- Moto Jacket: I have this exact jacket & have loved it for YEARS. It gets to much wear from fall- spring. I love the particular cut of this jacket, and the suede adds such cool texture to any outfit. I also love this jacket because I feel like I can wear it during the day or out for date night. Yesss, blush IS a neutral for me, too! I love the one you found from Talbots. A long striped cardigan is also such an essential and I luckily picked up the “Madewell Dupe” one from Target last week! I am so excited to style it with booties soon. Bring on all the loafers, too. I am such a fun!
