Over the past few months I’ve been adding more cream bronzers to my makeup collection. They’re great for summer, but not all are created equal. Today I’m breaking down my 4 favorites in a cream bronzer review!
I am all about a great bronzer. It is a must have in my makeup routine & a step I never miss. I’ve nailed down my favorite powder bronzers, but this spring & summer has been all about the cream bronzers! Even with oily skin, I love the way a cream bronzer melts into the skin & gives you a beautifully natural bronze to the face!
Regardless of the fact I didn’t have anywhere to go, I was still one of those who loved getting ready during quarantine, and I found myself shopping for new makeup. Somehow I accumulated 3 new cream bronzers over the past few months {and I already had one in my collection}… Obviously not everyone needs multiple cream bronzers so that’s where I come in! I’m breaking down the 4 I have in a cream bronzer review:: I’m sharing price, application tips, undertones & more!
Cream Bronzer Review:
- Milk Makeup Bronzer in Baked: $28 // This was my first cream bronzer purchase of this year, and one that initially wowed me! I really like this product because it is SO easy to apply to the face. The stick form makes for a quick application onto the skin. It is the most emollient of the bunch, and while it’s easy to get the product onto the skin, it isn’t as easy to buff out evenly. I originally tried it with a beauty blender & I didn’t love the application. I found a buffing brush was better for me to blend it out evenly. I also feel like this might be the most cool tone of the bunch I am sharing, this allows you to use this product as a contour stick, and not just as an all over bronzer.
- Application: this flat top buffing brush
- Foundation Combo: Dior Forever Matte or Perricone MD Foundation Serum
- Rating: 4/5
- Chanel Bronzing Cream: $50 // I had this years ago, and I remember really enjoying it! I got rid of it a few years ago because it was old, but I kept seeing gals on Instagram talk about it & was dying to try it again. It is a splurge, but because I remembered liking it, I thought I would give it another go. My second take on the product wasn’t as positive as my first. The first unfortunate thing about the product is that it only comes in 1 color, and the color is rather light. I feel like it barely shows up on my skin, and I have a light to medium skin tone. I find myself having to really build this product up to get the color payoff I want. I’d rather just use one swipe of the Milk bronzer, then have to go in with 3 layers of this bronzer. The second thing I don’t love is that the scent is no good. It smells artificially sweet. And lastly, compared to the other 3 I am sharing, I just don’t think it’s worth the money. I’ll continue to use it because I threw the box away & can no longer return it. I am hoping maybe in the fall & winter when I’m not as tan, the shade will show up better on my skin tone.
- Application: this complexion brush
- Foundation Combination: Dior Forever Matte or Perricone MD Foundation Serum
- Rating: 3.5/5
- Tarte Cream Bronzer in Seychelles: $29 // I picked this up because people were saying it is a dupe for the Chanel product. I’ll go ahead & tell ya right now, I like this product better! I had a bit of a learning curve when using this product, & it took me a while to figure out how to get it to blend evenly, but once I did I really loved this product. It gives a more contoured look, but I do think you can buff it out to get a bronzed effect.
- Application: Tarte Cream Bronzer Brush– I normally steer clear of brushes made for certain products, as I feel they’re more of a gimmick, but this one is SO GOOD. It is worth every penny & so so easy to use to apply the Tarte cream bronzer. It makes it seriously foolproof.
- Foundation Combo: Dior Forever Matte or Perricone MD Foundation Serum
- Rating: 4.5/5
- NARS Liquid Laguna: $40 // I’ve had this for years & it’s been a favorite for years for a reason– it is AMAZING! It’s lasted forever, which is nice. If you want a flawless, bronze look to the face, this one product I would recommend. Out of the 4 products I’m sharing today, this one is the easiest to use, the quickest to apply & easiest to blend. Dare I say it’s foolproof too?! I use one pump on the back of my hand for each cheek & then 1 pump per side of my forehead, so 4 pumps total. I just love this product so much. The only downside is that I feel like it works better on top of a foundation like this foundation serum, as opposed to a traditional foundation.
- Application: this flat top buffing brush
- Foundation Combo: Perricone MD Foundation Serum
- Rating: 5/5
