The older I get, the more important my skincare routine becomes to me. Today I’m outlining my AM skincare routine that I have been loving lately!
Happy Monday y’all! This post has been in the works for quite some time, and I finally found a combination of products that works really well with my skin & my skincare concerns. It’s taken a lot of trial & error, as well as some guidance from my gals at Privé Med Spa. When I first started going to Privé back in 2016, I started with a consultation & they were able to provide some guidance in the skincare department. As I’ve aged, my skin care needs have changed, and since I go in for monthly facial treatments, their estheticians have been able to regularly assess my skin & recommended different products along the way. I have I love learning from them when it comes to skincare products & what would work best for my skin. You can shop all of their products here too!
With both my AM & PM skincare routines I want to address my oily & acne prone skin, as well as target those fine lines and wrinkles. I prefer physician grade skincare products because there is an abundance of research behind each product, and it’s important to me that the properties within the products transform the skin from the inside out. As a disclaimer, everyone’s skin is unique & what works for me won’t work for everyone! This list seems long, and sometimes I only reach for a few of these products, but my skin feels & looks it’s best when I stick to this routine.
My AM Skincare Routine:
- Face wash! The ZO Gentle Cleanser is always my baseline morning cleanser. It’s gentle while deep cleansing to remove impurities, and leaves my skin feeling fresh. I will also reach for this AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser if I feel like my skin is looking dull (I can only use this a few times a week).
- Exfoliate: I love this daily exfoliator & have used it for years. I prefer to use it in the shower because it’s easier to wipe away, and in the warmer months I do tend to use almost daily (at least 4-5 days a week). My skin is more sensitive in the winter, so I probably only use 2-3 times a week. Nevertheless, this product always leaves my skin feeling softer & smoother. *I DO NOT use in tandem with the AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser.
- Toner: Up until recently I religiously used these complexion renewal pads (which I still love & will use if my skin gets unruly!) as my toner, but I bought this Tonic around Thanksgiving & truly can’t get enough of it. I love using it in the morning because it really does live up to the “facial in a bottle” hype. It claims to brighten, tighten & lighten the skin, and I can’t get over how soft it makes me skin feel.
- Vitamin C Serum: Vitamin C is a must have for anyone’s skin care routine, it brightens the skin & provides anti aging benefits. I love this particular serum, I’ve been using it for over a year & can’t quit it. The addition of Vitamin E & Ferulic acid neutralizes free radicals and replenishes skin lipids.
- Growth Factors: I just recently added this into my skin care routine during quarantine! “This next-generation, skin rejuvenating formula improves the appearance of coarse wrinkles, fine lines, skin tone, and texture. It’s the only growth factor product proven to address sagging skin.” In addition, the formula encourages skin cell renewal and supports collagen and elastin levels. Skin care is all about the long game in my opinion. I don’t know that I see visible results right now, but if it can have long term benefits for my skin then I am all here for it!
- Hydrating Serum: This is something I just recently adding into my skincare routine after having to give up my HA5 (the silicon base was causing these small bumps on my skin). Even though I have oily skin it is a must for me to keep my skin hydrated & I love using a serum like this one because it is oil free, very light weight & has hyaluronic acid. Don’t be scared by the word acid. HA promotes short term, and more importantly, long term moisture which promotes smooth skin & reduced fine lines & wrinkles.
- Eye Cream: An eye cream is so so important to use on a daily basis. I love Instant Bright because it helps my under eyes look brighter and more youthful. Targeting my dark circles is a must for me & the ingredients work to reduce the visible signs of aging and fatigue.
- Moisturizer: I love this Sheer Renewal Cream & have been using it since September. It’s oil free & “provides continuous weightless hydration and promotes new cell turnover to help minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles.” I love the finish & feeling it leaves on my skin as well.
- SPF: I’ve really tried to be better about putting SPF on every morning & I find that this tinted moisturizer with SPF is the easiest way to make sure of that. I use it in place of a foundation for daytime.
And that’s a wrap y’all! I loved sharing my AM skincare routine with y’all & hope this was helpful! xo!

loved reading this! I definitely need to get back on the vitamin C – always notice such a difference when I use but am also terrible at finishing a bottle of it and not ordering again for months. thanks for the reminder & push to do so!
