AH! I am so so excited to finally share Vaughn’s Nursery Reveal with y’all! It is colorful, vibrant & full of personality.
My sweet baby girl is already so vibrant, cheerful & full of personality, and I think this room represents that so well. It’s funny how a room I dreamt of creating for her before she was even here feels so much like “her”. I am over the moon with how this whole room came together. Per usual, I turned to Meghann V Interiors to help us with the process. Meghann has helped us with nearly every room we’ve redone in our home & she does such a great job bringing our visions to life. She leans into color, mixing prints & has such great taste.
If you know me then you that colors & prints are kinda my thing when it comes to my interior design style, and I wanted V’s room to be an extension of our home style. That meant no baby animals, no neutrals & no typical nursery vibes. I wanted a space that Vaughn could grow into & I think we nailed it! Good things take time, so I shared a vision board of her nursery here nearly a year ago! Not too much different right?! It’s taken a while for things to fall into place, but I love this space so so much.
The one item that set the tone for her space:: this incredible rug we sourced locally through Grace Rug Gallery. They were so great to work with. They brought several samples that fit the space to our house to see them in the room. It was so helpful seeing the rugs in the space. I had originally not wanted something so purple, but once I saw it laid out, there was no going back. Another perk of using Grace Rug Gallery, I’m pretty sure they will come pick the rug up from you house to clean it if you purchase from there!
The rug was really the first piece we bought for the room, and it inspired the rest of the design. I wanted some color on the walls, so we pulled the lilac from the rug & went with Farrow & Ball Calluna No 270. It’s described as a tranquil lilac, and I feel like that sums it up perfectly. I love the subtle statement it makes. We decided to take the same color up & onto the ceiling, so we opted to do the trim work in a semi gloss & the ceiling in a flat finish of 50%. We did this in our dining room too & I love the look of it! Who knew painting the ceiling could be so fun?!
As much as it paints me to pick favorites, I think my favorite thing about her room has to be the Lulie Wallace fabric in Mims Multi. It is just so fun & sweet! We used it for her window treatments & crib skirt for another pop. The colors accent the rug perfectly, and it allowed us to lean into even more color– shocker! The pattern is really something we can use in her room for years to come. Meghann helped us with the drapes & had them custom made so the truly fit the room like a glove. If there is one thing I have learned over decorating our house for 4 years now, it’s that custom window treatments make the BIGGEST difference in a room. They’re a hard pill to swallow when paying that invoice, but they’re so so worth it. We currently only have them in her room & the dining room & they just make the room.
When it came for nursery essentials, I wanted a dresser that could serve as a changing table while she’s little & then transition into a big girl dresser. I love the lacquered furniture trend & The Resplendent Crow came highly recommended, & I loved the bamboo detailing to this piece. We went with Benjamin Moore’s ‘All-a-Blaze’ to make a major statement.
Y’all thought we were done with the color? Not quite. After weeks of debating, we chose a textured, crypton fabric in the most gorgeous green for her glider & matching ottoman. We nixed a neutral, a purple & a pink in favor of the green. It took a while to get in (you know, supply chain issues), and the more time that went by the more nervous I was that it wouldn’t play well with the coral/pink of the dresser, but it was a risk that paid off! I think I would have been disappointed if we’d gone with a different color. The glider was ordered & sourced through Meghann, so I don’t have exact info, but this glider in washed linen kelly green has similar vibes.
How could I almost forget! The Stray Dog Designs light fixture is pure perfection! It is so unique, and unlike anything else I’ve seen. It’s the cherry on top of a perfect room for our perfect girl.
Other pieces in her room I just adore are the pieces of art I found. I had been eyeing this fun piece of art above her crib for years & once I knew we were having a girl I told Meghann asap I wanted to include it in the room. It is so well made & such a fun piece for a little girl. I found it at Scout Design Studio, but I am not seeing it online anymore. This piece of art hangs above her glider & represents our little family perfectly. I love the juxtaposition of black against the rest of the girly components.
The lacquered dresser in all her glory. I could have removed the keegaroo for photos, but I figured it was more of an accurate depiction if I left it in 😉
After she was born I kept on collecting sweet mementos, sentimental pictures, books, etc & needed a place to display them all. I went back & forth on finding a bookcase for the room, but ultimately am glad we went with this direction. It doesn’t take away from any other design elements & provides us with a little more storage for books, toys & such. This sweet hand & foot impression pictured above is one of my most prized possessions, we took them about a month after she was born. It’s from Cowtown & Clay and worth every penny. Would also much such a great gift.
I think that about sums everything up when it comes to her room! There are plenty more pictures to come & sources linked at the end.
